FCCLA chapters all over the state of Missouri do many chapter projects throughout the year. Some keep their money and some donate it to local charities. This year the Van-Far FCCLA chapter chose to do our annual Christmas Sales Project. The Family and Career Leadership Class make many "goodies" that all of the members then have the opportunity to sell. This year the students in the class made things such as scarfs, snowman soup (which is a package of hot chocolate, two Hershey's kisses, a candy cane, and a couple marshmallows), Christmas cards, and much much more! This project is very successful for our chapter each year but is always changing.
Along with our Christmas Sales Project our chapter teamed up with our local SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) chapter in their project for our local food pantry. The SADD chapter challenged each organization in our school to donate money or food items to the food bank. The Van-Far FCCLA chapter donated $100 for the cause! This money was greatly needed by the food pantry as for the holiday season the food bank was almost completely empty, and their are many families throughout our area who depend on this food to feed their loved ones. Other FCCLA chapters may want to check out information about your local food pantries too, as every little bit does help!
