I would like to introduce to you Missouri FCCLA's latest "innovation"- the Missouri FCCLA Online Chapter. Many of you might be scratching your heads and wondering what in the world Missouri FCCLA is up to now. Some of you might even dismiss this right away. But a few of you (yes, you know who you are) will be excited about this new delivery method of FCCLA for students who want to be part of the ultimate leadership experience, but for a variety of reasons, they can't. Or we say they couldn't - past tense. Because now, they can! Students who have taken a FCS course (either in person on online) but are in a setting that doesn't have a FCS teacher or program (public, private, online or home-school) can be a part of FCCLA. What an opportunity for these students to participate! This is a pilot program for the 2008-09 school year. We hope to learn as much as possible this year, meet the needs of these students, and then improve on it for next year. Along the way, we hope to develop online materials and resources that will benefit all Missouri FCCLA chapters.

Please pass the word along about the online chapter. Let students who may have moved from your classroom to a school without a program, or to home school, know about this opportunity.

The website for the online chapter is http://www.mofcclaonline.org/. It is pretty basic, because we may change things up throughout the year depending on the input of the members. But watch out, because we hope to stir things up this year and make a positive difference not only in our organization, but in the lives of these students. And, please let me know what you think - your comments and suggestions are always appreciated.
