Action for Healthy Kids and FCCLA Partnership

Today we have a guest blogger, Heather Conley, from the FCCLA National Executive Council! -CH

Action for Healthy Kids and FCCLA Partnership

FCCLA and Action for Healthy Kids have partnered on the national level to provide resources focusing on health and wellness issues. Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK) mission is to educate students and adults on nutritional value and impress upon them the importance of physical activity. AFHK is working with state based programs and partnering organizations to distribute programs to school campuses that enable students to learn in a health friendly environment.

FCCLA's closely related program Student Body also encourages students to eat right, be fit and make healthy choices. FCCLA chapters across the nation participate in projects such as health and nutrition fairs, family fitness nights, and alcohol/drug awareness programs for their peers.

I am currently attending a meeting with AFHK as a student representative working on revising a program called "Students Taking Charge." Although the release date of the fully revised project is to be determined, I know that when it is released, it will be a great resource for FCCLA chapters acrost the nation. It's going to be GREAT!

Also, don't forget that national FCCLA week is Febuary 8th-14th! This is a great time to prepare chapter projects focusing on national programs like Student Body (:

Thank you Missouri FCCLA for allowing me to post on your blog!

Heather Conley, National FCCLA Vice President of Programs
